Our Locations

At Castle, we deal with waste ourselves, rather than transferring it to a third party. All our facilities process bulk hazardous and liquid waste, delivered in tankers, barrels or on curtain-siders.

Castle's in-house processing capabilities means the Company can offer direct producers and other waste management companies the peace of mind that comes with knowing the precise final destination of their waste

Our sites operate to a very high standard with ISO 14001, ISO 9001, and OHSAS 45001 accreditations. We are active members of the Environmental Services Association. We continue to develop our processes and infrastructure, reinvesting profits to improve our sites and retain the quality of service we provide.

Our sites are open throughout the year for customers to visit and discuss any of their requirements.

About our site

Our Ilkeston site is the HQ of Castle Environmental. It is a long-established site with an exemplary record in regards to compliance and operational excellence.

In line with Castle's unwavering attention to detail and technical focus, It is home to 3 laboratories that use state of the art equipment for pre-acceptance, acceptance and post-treatment testing. It is the rigour with which wastes are tested and assessed through the process, that gives our customers the assurance that their waste has been processed appropriately.

At Ilkeston, we are able to receive both Calcium Hydroxide & Sodium Carbonate based Air Pollution Control Residue (APCr) in tankers and bags. Uniquely the facility is able to process a wide array of acidic and alkaline liquids, sludges and solids. Through novel and specialist treatment methodology, the Ilkeston site is an extremely popular destination for pumpable ammonia and amine solutions, which are avoided by most other treatment plants.

The wide range of waste materials received at Ilkeston enables us to offset wastes against one another, neutralizing specialist waste that very few others can manage in a highly cost-effective and environmentally compliant manner.

Recent investment at Ilkeston has expanded the site's secure destruction capability, allowing for the quick and secure destruction of both hazardous and non-hazardous retail-packed products and high-value goods.

Stoke-on-Trent

At our Stoke site, we are also able to receive and process Air Pollution Control Residue (APCr), neutralizing with waste acid. Because of this, we accept highly concentrated and aggressive acids such as Nitric acid (HNO3) and Hydrofluoric acid (HF).

We process bulk effluents, including tankers of contaminated water, due to generous sewer discharge and agreement with the local water authority in Stoke.

Through the Stoke-on-Trent facility, we process a variety of bulk effluents and tankers of contaminated water at highly competitive rates. The site's excellent sewer discharge agreement allows us to receive vast quantities of liquid waste on a daily basis. It is the ability to receive a high volume of waste over a short period of time that makes the treatment plant an ideal solution for large and time-critical projects.

Cardiff

Our Cardiff site also receives and processes Air Pollution Control Residue (APCr), strong acids and bulk effluents, like Stoke. In addition, the site processes oxidizing liquids and boasts a sulphide oxidization process. These include refinery-type wastes such as caustic materials, made up of alkalis with sulphide or fluoride, and waste from the oil and gas industry.

The Cardiff treatment plant's niche capabilities mean it is well suited to wastes from the Oil & Gas sector. Large volumes of bulk acidic and alkaline liquids are received from such customers, often containing contaminants such as Sulphide and Fluoride.
